But far, far less tags still alive, as grand majority of Precolombian/HRE/Indian minors die. There are ~2400 land province in the game and in 1444 ~800 of them has no owner (->colonizable) according to my comparisions of various savegames using EU4 Stats website there is roughly on average 2x more global max manpower and regiment sum in 1821 than in 1444.
So, I guess, displaying and calculating more provinces/armies is the main cause of slowed performance. Surprprisingly, zooming in and out has big impact - full zoom in so I see only few provinces is 25% faster game than full zoom out where I see whole world. How does it look for you?įrom my tests it seems that disabling all fancy graphic effects (treeds, shadows etc) improves performance for me only by about 10%. I tested 1812 bookmark with TI explored, fog of war disabled and ufll zoom out and it took 24 - 30 seconds.
I might also advise defragmenting your hard drive if you've used it a long time while adding and uninstalling programs. An SSD will shorten your loading and saving times though. I am wondering if my game runs slow or fast and whether I can make it run faster.Īccording to my timer, on speed 3 when I leave a game hands-off, I takes ~14-18 seconds in 1444 until one month passes. GPU isn't really important in EU4, CPU is the most important because a lot of calculations are made in the background.
